ITINERARY FOR TEEN MISSION TRIP TO THE PHILIPPINES: 2008

Aug 3 Sunday
Meet at Tom Bradley Terminal at LAX at 10 pm.
Aug 5 Tues. arrival 11:40 am Manila
time: Drive to Laguna. About 3-4 hours. By the time we arrive
at Laguna (5 pm) it will be after midnight in the US and we will want
to sleep.
Aug 6 - Wed : Drive all day to
get to Bicol region (Includes Tabaco City and Legaspi) Orientation upon
arrival (if it is past midnight, we can do the orientation in the morning)
MINISTRY IN BICOL - BACKGROUND: We will have 3 days of ministry in Bicol, in the village of Nasigpit, Mariroc. This is where we will be teaching children and teens. In this village, WCG has an established church named Potters Field Christian Community. It has 30+ adult baptized members. Adjacent to this, a distance of 10km, is the village of Pinagbobong where we have another church named Community of Christian Weavers, again with 30+ adult baptized members. These churches were planted beginning with the members' loving response to the peoples' needs after 2 super typhoons hit Bicol in 2006. It was a result of a wholistic approach to ministry, the practical demonstration of the love of God through relief and rehabilitation.
Both are growing churches that can benefit
from our presence. We will likewise be reaching out to non-members in
the 2 villages, with approx 140 households, each household having 5-6
family members, or a total of approx 700-840 people. Both are poor communities.
Most people there are sickly from poor nutrition and from having no
access to potable water. They would have to go to the river to get water
for their needs. The plan is to have the deep well and the comfort rooms
(rest rooms) installed near the church building in Mariroc. This will
greatly improve their physical well-being. It is something that they
will really praise God for. It is a concrete (literally and figuratively)
evidence of God's love and our faith in Him. It will complement our
teaching of the Gospel. It will also complement what the church has
been doing there.
Aug 7 Thurs – Aug. 8th Friday :
Visit to Potter's Field Christian Fellowship in Brgy Mariroc; (near Tabaco).
Vacation Bible School (VBS) with 100 children on Thursday and Friday afternoon. Each class will be 3 hours long and the same children will come back the 2nd day for the last half. So we will do half of the VBS the first day and half the second day. (3 hrs + 3 hrs)
We will help install and construct jetmatic
hand pump and toilet facility.
Aug 9
– Saturday Teach and talk with church children and neighbors
at Potter's Field Christian Fellowship.
Aug 10 Sun:
Morning: Free to rest, rehearse, go swimming in ocean, etc.
Mike will have a Q & A with the church leadership.
2- 4 pm. Worship service in Legaspi:
The visiting youth group will play at the worship services in Legaspi. 3 - 4 songs.
Mike will give the sermon
5 – 7 pm Send off party hosted by Myrla Dawal and Ate Nor before we drive back to Manila.
Aug 11 Mon: Drive (10 hours plus) back
to Manila. Stay at the World Team facilities. (Mission house)
Aug 12 Tues: 1 - 4PM Do
a Vacation Bible School in NHV (North Hills Village, Bulacan)
3 hrs will be the complete lesson. Ages of the children would
be 8 - 12. Target number is 80 - 100 children. Do Doctors
Office and Ragman drama.
Aug 13 Wed: 1 - 4PM
Same as yesterday but a different group of 100 children
Aug 14: Thurs : Free in the morning for some shopping:
2PM drive to Villa Julia Resort in Cavite for the youth retreat of 80 students. We are paying for most of them to attend. Students will be teens from Bulacan – an area where WCG has been doing outreach for several years. For Filipino teens to go to the event there are two qualifications. They have never been to an SEP camp and they cannot afford to go
Older ones among us will be assistant
counselors and some activity leaders (Basketball, swimming, drama, team
building)
Aug 15 - Fri: Youth Leadership retreat (mini SEP)
We will be helping as assistant counselors and activity leaders.
Give devotional message in the morning – Mike or teens (30 – 45 minutes) Spend time with the teens during the day. Do “Everything” drama
In the evening after activities we will need to be prepared to give testimonies regarding relationships, faith, relationship with parents, dealing with peer pressure, pre-marital sex, prayer, friends and other youth concerns.
Aug 16 - Sat:
Give devotional message in the morning Mike or teens (30 – 45 minutes) spend time with the teens during the day. Our band may play
Retreat ends after lunch. Drive back
to World Team facilities in Quezon City, Manila.
Aug 17 Sun: We will have a combined metro Manila Worship Service.
The group is expected to give testimonies about their experiences on the trip.
Mike will give the main message.
Aug 17 - AFTERNOON - down time with some of the young people here in Metro Manila at the WCG office
Aug 18: MON - scheduled flight
to the US 12:45PM. EVA AIRWAYS Flight BR 0002 Arrives at
LAX 2:15 PM
