Day 5, morning: travel from Legazpi to Masbate City

With the storm signal already lifted the previous day, the Americans, accompanied by staff from the Regional Office, Drs. Joe & Gie Manzano and Myrla Dawal decided to push through the plan to visit Balawing. We drove to Pilar in Sorsogon Province, took the three-hour boat ride to Masbate City, knowing that if the weather turned bad we would have to turn right around and return. But the Coast Guard told us that the bad weather was headed north (it soaked Manila while we had great weather), so we took the two-hour bus ride to Aroroy.
